Coventry Concert provides toys for local children

Hundreds of members of the Coventry area gathered to celebrate this years’ Christmas season at an annual carol concert in a very special way. The event, now in its eleventh year, was organized to not only mark the start of the Christmas period but to collect toys that could be distributed by the Rotary Club of Coventry Phoenix and Coventry Social Services as gifts to children in the local area who may otherwise go without.

Members of the Coventry congregations were invited to donate gifts suitable for children aged between 2 and 11 years.  In total, more than 300 Christmas presents were contributed by members and their friends. Upon being presented with the gifts, President Lorna Beedham, Rotary Club President who attended the carol concert, sincerely thanked members of The Church of Jesus Christ for their generosity and reminded them that these gifts would make an enormous difference to the lives of some families in the Coventry area.

President Keith Penfold, Coventry Church leader commented, “It is great to be able to be support the wonderful work that the Rotary Club of Coventry Phoenix do. Our members view it as a great privilege to be involved in a small way with helping those who may be struggling. Donating a small gift for a child is something that anyone can do but the effects upon the recipient can be far reaching.”
