Richard Dickinson is new bishop of Huddersfield

Richard Dickinson, has been assigned as the new bishop of the Huddersfield First congregation for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Bishop Dickinson will continue to work as a career advisor in the town centre, where he has worked for the last eight years.

Bishop Dickinson comes from Bradford where he joined the Church as a convert thirteen years ago. In 2002 he married his wife, Claire, and they have three children, two sons and a daughter, who all go to local schools.  Previously, Bishop Dickinson has served as the young men's leader, adult Sunday school teacher, and in local leadership roles.  Bishop Dickinson says that his goal as leader is, “to encourage Church members and people of the local community to know that they are children of God and as such to recognise their potential.”

The outgoing bishop is Gareth Tomlinson who served for seven years before being asked to serve in a different capacity.
