Apostle, Elder Dallin H. Oaks, visits Wandsworth

Elder Dallin H. Oaks, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, recently attended a special conference held at the Wandsworth meeting house. His wife, Sister Kristen M. Oaks, Elder Patrick Kearon of the Europe Area Presidency, Elder Clifford T. Herbertson, Area Seventy, and their wives also accompanied Elder Oaks.

This visit from an apostle was the first in eighteen years for the Wandsworth area.  Three weeks prior, Wandsworth area Church leader, Stake President Roderick Anatsui, was given notice of the visit and was tasked with travelling around the stake and inviting members to come and meet an apostle. More than six hundred members and friends received the invitation and attended the event.

In his address to the congregation, Elder Oaks reminded members about their role as witnesses of Christ. He also admonished all members to become more converted to the gospel.

The climax of the evening was when Elder Oaks commenced to shake hands with the congregation. Fathers, mothers, children, adults and young adults came forward to shake hands with this beloved apostle.
