Pain-free service for bishop of Banbury

Joseph Gedge, a dentist by profession, has been appointed as the new bishop of the Banbury congregation for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (often referred to as Mormons), replacing Jason Suggitt who had served for nearly three years.

Bishop Gedge is a lifelong member of the Church and originated from the United States of America. In 2000 he served a two year full-time mission in Texas and has subsequently served in a number of other leadership positions within the Church. Bishop Gedge will be responsible for the spiritual and temporal welfare of the members of the Church and will continue to work as a full-time dentist; as the Church has no paid clergy.

Commenting on his new appointment, Bishop Gedge said, "I am really excited about this opportunity I have to serve the Church and the people of Banbury. As a follower of Jesus Christ I have a strong conviction that God loves all his children and has a personal plan for each of us. This plan is designed to bring us happiness no matter what our situation. I would want all the people of Banbury to know that the doors of our chapel are always open to anyone who has a desire to learn more about our faith.”

More than 80 members of the Church meet each week at the chapel which is located on Chatsworth Drive, Cherwell Heights in Banbury. Services begin at 10.00 am each Sunday and visitors are welcome to attend.
