Letter of condolence following the tragic death of Sir David Amess MP

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sent the following letter to the Prime Minister, following Sir David Amess’s tragic death:

18 October 2021

Dear Prime Minister

On behalf of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we express our deepest sympathies at the tragic loss of Sir David Amess.

He was a man of great capacity and had served the people of south Essex as MP for Southend West for many years.

We are conscious of his deep religious conviction and commitment to his Roman Catholic faith.

His courageous defence of traditional family values and the life of the unborn, his passionate efforts on behalf of the disadvantaged or vulnerable, as well as his love for the community he so faithfully served, are undoubtedly an expression of that faith.

We value the work of our elected officials and pray for their wellbeing and protection.

Yours sincerely

Elder Martin J Turvey
Europe Area Seventy
