The Mayor of Kettering, Councillor James Hakewill, invited representatives from the Kettering congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to attend the annual Holocaust Memorial Commemoration at the Council chamber with this year’s theme of ‘Build a Bridge’.

This multi-faith event, commemorated on 27th January worldwide, is to remember the 6 million Jews who died during the Holocaust of World Word Two and commenced with an assembly on the front lawn for the raising of the Holocaust memorial Flag. The Mayor read a prayer, followed by a two minute silence and continued with candle lighting and four prayers read by The Mayor, Storm Cook, Barbara Elliott and the Mayor’s Chaplain.
Readings were also given by other faiths and included one by Tony Twigger, representing the Church and the Kettering congregation who quoted 1 Corinthians 13 and stated that the best way to build a bridge was through love.
