St Albans Members help with Community Garden Project

Sixty members from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in St Albans held an annual 'Helping Hands Day'of service which continued their ongoing support for a project in St Albans: The Community Garden Project.

The project works to promote community cohesion by helping people with economic and social disadvantages such as the young, the unemployed, the elderly and disabled to acquire and develop skills in the cultivation of vegetables and fruit. The project also works to support people living in urban St. Albans who have little opportunity to get close to nature and the environment.

The day was a great success with over 60 volunteers attending throughout the day. Hard work and team work were required to clear the site. A new area of the garden was created to grow a variety of herbs and a number of new plants were also planted adding to the beauty of this extraordinary garden.
