13 year old Sophie Morris from the Hereford congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Cheltenham area decided 2 years ago that she would make a donation of her hair to ‘The Little Princess Trust’. This is a charity set up by the parents of a little girl from Hereford who sadly died of cancer in 2005. Whilst their daughter was alive, her parents had difficulty finding a wig for her to wear as she suffered hair loss from the treatment required for her illness. They proceeded to set up a trust after her death to help other families in a similar position. This trust accepts donations of both money and hair and provides free wigs for children suffering hair loss.

Sophie had intended to grow her hair until she was 15 years of age, but over the past 2 years it has grown thick and fast so she made the decision to visit the hair salon and get 17 inches cut off!
It is quite a radical change as Sophie has had long hair since she was a toddler, but Sophie says, “I have the option to choose how I wear my hair, some children don’t, and I hope my hair will help make a difference to someone’s life.”
Sophie also raised £200 in sponsorship money for ‘The Little Princess Trust’.
