Rising Generation of Scotland & Ireland Perform Over 4000 Ordinances in the Preston Temple

Over 600 Youth and Young Adults gathered on two different weekends in March at the Preston Temple Campus in Chorley, UK.

The Rising Generation was invited to come closer to Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father and gain a better understanding of what it means to stay on the covenant path and ‘Think Celestial’ by spending a weekend together at the Temple.

Serving in the Temple Together

Youth and Young Adults prepared to enter, actively served in, and returned home stronger from the House of the Lord. In anticipation to enter the Temple, friends challenged each other to lift their eyes and live worthy of a Temple recommend. Their incredible service of proxy ordinances within the Temple strengthened them throughout the busy day with vibrant faith as they gave the opportunity for souls to make covenants with God. How inspiring it was to see the House of the Lord filled to the brim with young ‘Saviours on Mount Zion!’

As well as performing over 4000 ordinances of salvation in the House of the Lord, they engaged in three transformational activities: Hear Him- Gospel Instruction, Missionary Training Centre Experience, and Roots- Family History Experience. These activities, thoughtfully planned, engaged youth in service and lifted their vision to a higher plain. All of the youth and young adults spent the night in nearby accommodations and participated in devotionals and activities from visiting companies.

Hear Him - Gospel Instruction

Members of the Rising Generation were provided with inspiring, actionable Gospel instruction delivered by teachers with a history of successfully engaging young people. The instruction intentionally focused on how the individuals can learn to hear the voice of the Spirit for themselves and understand personal revelation. They were shown in three interactive workshops how their daily lives can be vitally blessed through interacting with the Godhead.

Missionary Training Centre Experience

The youth had the benefit of the Preston Missionary Training Centre being on the grounds of the Temple. The Training Centre graciously allowed the Rising Generation to enter and see, up close, why they should consider serving a mission. At the conclusion of the experience, a large number of youths took home a document in which they committed to serving a mission.

Roots - Family History Experience

Though fun and interactive games and technology, the Spirit of Elijah was present as youth and young adults connected to their ancestors. The family history experience enhanced their Temple experience as they thought of the people, they would be performing ordinances for in the baptistry, and reminded them of the importance of being a strong link in their family chain.

The weekend experiences for the Rising Generation, connected them to each other, to their kindred dead, engaged them in meaningful service, equipped them with the knowledge of how to receive and act on personal revelation, reminded them of their divine purpose and engendered a deeper sense of covenant belonging.
