The congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Birmingham area held their annual Christmas carol concert on Sunday December 3rd with prominent interfaith representatives. The Church in Birmingham has partnered with the Salvation Army for several years in collecting toys to be donated to needy families in the Birmingham and this year was no exception.
The carol service was unique this year in having an interfaith participation. Preet Kaur Gill, the first female Sikh MP in the country, attended the concert and spoke about kindness. Dr Pyara Bhogal, the Sikh representative on the Birmingham Council of Faiths also attended and spoke about the importance of all faiths working together to reach out to those in need. Over 200 people were in attendance, which included two other interfaith guests.
