Doncaster Has New Bishop

The Doncaster congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a newly appointed Bishop – Daniel Marshall, aged 37. Bishop Marshall, who is self-employed is married to Michelle and they have five children.

Bishop Marshall is originally from Nottingham and moved to Doncaster in 2001 after having served as a full-time missionary for the Church in the Leeds, England Mission – an area that Bishop Marshall describes as, “The best area on the entire Earth”.

Prior to this appointment, Bishop Marshall had served in other church leadership positions. Serving as a Bishop, which is an unpaid position, will be a new experience for him and he will be supported by two counsellors, Ian Hall and Peter Broome.

Speaking about this opportunity to serve, Bishop Marshall remarked, “Since I was ordained a Bishop, I have been trying to quickly learn all the things that I need to know. I am looking forward to getting to know the members of the congregation, and serve them, and help them to be uplifted and grow spiritually. I will encourage them to attend the temple with their families as regularly as they can. I’m also looking forward to growing personally by studying the scriptures and the reviewing the way that the Saviour Jesus Christ served others”.
