Leaders from the Cheltenham area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were invited to a Reception by Cobalt, a registered medical charity, as contributors towards a new health, mind and body scanner at the Cheltenham General Hospital.

The £1million 320 slice, Aquilion One Heart, Mind & Body CT scanner, one of only 7 in the United Kingdom, was purchased for the hospital by fundraising in the community by Cobalt, who work with the NHS and have premises next door to the Cheltenham Church building on Thirlestaine Road. Cobalt are a medical charity providing cutting edge diagnostic imaging. Local leaders have developed a good relationship with them and offer the use of the car park for special events during the year and in turn the charity offer their car park for regional conferences held by the Church.
The funds were raised by the Church by hosting a recent concert by the Brigham Young Singers from Utah, USA at the historic Gloucester Cathedral with an audience of around 450 people, with around 65% being members of the public. Many community leaders attended including The High Sheriff of Gloucestershire, Duncan Clegg, The Right Worshipful Mayor of Gloucester, Councillor Andy Lewis, The Sheriff of the City of Gloucester and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Pam Tracey MBE and The Mayor of Cheltenham, Councillor Barbara Driver.
