BBC Radio 3 Record Live Performance by BYU Singers in Cardiff

A live recording of the Concert performance by the BYU Singers from Utah, America was made by BBC Radio 3 for “The Choir,” a regular Sunday programme at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff on May 1st, to be broadcast at a later date. 

The Royal Welsh College provided a perfect setting for this concert with a near capacity attendance including Julie Morgan, Assembly Member Cardiff North and Rhodri Morgan, Former First Minister of Welsh Assembly.  Other dignitaries in attendance were Deputy Lord Mayor of Caerphilly, Councillor Vera Jenkins, Councillor Margaret Sergeant and Professor Dylan Jones-Evans and his family from the University of Wales Global Academy. 

The charity performance in aid of  the ‘Noah’s Ark Appeal’  was the sixth concert performance by the Brigham Young singers on their tour of the South of England and Wales which finishes with a performance at St Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 11th and at St John’s Smith Square, London on May 12th.  See www.singers.byu.edu.

Some of the comments received from the audience were; "A wonderful choir", "What accomplished musicians". "The music was so uplifting". "The Singers showed obvious joy as they performed and with such precision ". "Dr. Staheli has this choir so well trained and to see young people perform so excellently was inspiring". "What a wonderful night’s entertainment". "That is the best choir that I have ever listened to". " ‘We didn't want it to end".

The VIPs who attended the concert were in awe of the extreme excellence that was presented to them in such a pleasing setting and Andrew Perry, from the organizing committee in Cardiff, commented, “It has been a privilege to host this concert and we look forward to presenting the Noah's Ark Appeal with a significant donation from the evening's proceeds.”
